ABOUT US

GIVING HANDS

positively transforming lives

Every week since 2015, we have been operating on the frontlines of poverty alleviation and delivering life-changing support to those facing extreme hardship. We have been help all people within our reach with more than just food. Unlike generic food banks, we combine emergency aid with long-term stability programs.

We help individuals and families living in deprivation and hardship by providing healthy and nutritious food, toiletries, clothing and household items. Our work positively impact on our service users where no other help is available.

We are 100% volunteer-led and have remained so from inception to date.

We have remained committed to helping the homeless and rough sleepers, the poor and needy, those with severe debt problems, those leaving hostels and rehab centres, those with health problems, the socially isolated, those fleeing domestic violence, those suffering from severe depression, the underprivileged and disadvantaged, and all those within our reach whose lives are a struggle due to the hardship that they face daily.

We are a Christian faith-based charitable organisation. We adhere to  Christian ethos, values and believe in Jesus Christ, practically demonstrating Christ's compassion to all people. As part of our core values, we are committed to improving the quality of life of people irrespective of religion, race, gender, age and sexual orientation.

We are committed to the relief of poverty and all its effects on the people of Sandwell, Dudley and the wider Black Country. From inception, we have always worked with local people, schools, churches and other organisations. We help anybody who needs our support; young, old, single people and families from all backgrounds, religious beliefs and ethnic origins, without prejudice. We treat everyone fairly and with dignity. There is no charge for any single item or service that we provide.

Our key objectives

Immediate: Reduce hunger, preventing wastes and homelessness

Intermediate: Improve financial and mental wellbeing

Long-term: Break cycles of poverty through tailored projects and programmes

Service-user exit strategy

As we aim to prevent dependency, we actively work with an exit strategy so that our service users can weather the storm, get back on their feet again and become independent, self-confident and self-sufficient.
